The journey to Belgrade was interesting - I decided to get the bus rather than the train, as this seemed the most straightforward way of making the journey. However, I think i'm too tall to sit on a bus for what ended up being nine and a half hours (including over an hour at the border)! Also arriving in Belgrade at 2:30 in the morning probably wasn't ideal, but it turned out my hostel wasn't much of a walk from the bus station. The un-subtitled Serbian films shown during the journey more than made up for it though...
On my first day here I decided to join a free walking tour to get my bearings and see some of the city as well as meet some people, as my hostel is fairly quiet. This began with a walk up to the Citadel with it's views over the Danube and Sava rivers.

Later in the day I walked across town to Sveti Sava, which is billed as the biggest Orthodox church in the world. It really is pretty big, and unfinished after around 100 years of construction. It feels massive inside as the on-going building work means it's fairly empty.

On my second day here it's been a fair bit colder - but I took a walk around the city, and also went to the bus station to buy my bus ticket to Skopje for tomorrow. This proved to be not as simple a task as it sounded, mainly because I hadn't realised there were two bus terminals, but I got it sorted in the end, so tomorrow morning I'm off to Macedonia, complete with 7am start!
